A Poor Man’s vlog on Maya on if it is worth it

What is the Maya / Landers Credit Card
This Credit Card is a partnership from, as the name suggests, Maya Bank and Landers.
It is a form of a Credit Card and a membership card.
So… as a Maya user, you can reap the rewards the Landers Card has and get the benefits of Maya’s Saving interest…
or so I thought.
I was expecting a lot with this Card thinking that I can grow my expenses on savings and using the card at the same time.
The Downside of the Maya / Landers Credit Card
But no…. I was expecting too much.
Firstly, the card has transactions that is not considered as cashback
The above expenses comprise around 20% – 40% of my total expense.
Compared to other credit cards, this is not worth it at all.
Secondly, Landers Supermarket is not my Number 1 supermarket on terms of food quality, gadget prices and self-care products.
Comparing it to other stores, fresh products such as meats, vegetables and fruit, are something that I do not recommend.
I saw lots of flies, small cockroach and worms crawling on the vegetable stalls.
Price-wise, I think it is a bit cheaper or same, but with this quality, I cannot recommend it.
Lastly, the rewards as of now are a bit lackluster.
It only comes as a form of a voucher to reduce your Lander’s purchases.
You will need to accumulate 500 points depending on the below purchases. (1 point=1 pesos)
Up to 5% on Landers
Up to 2 % on dining (Not really restaurants I recommend)
1% on all others (except for those I listed on the non-qualifying lists above)
With all of these said, I REGRET having this Credit Card and would like to return it and the Php 500, I spent on the membership fee.
Maya Savings Interest and Landers Credit Card
For every purchase on the Lander’s Credit Card, it will not effect your Maya Savings Interest.
We all know the 2% interest gain you have when spending Php 25,000 on your Maya.
I was on the FALSE pre-tense that it could also be used on the cards because it stated…
But it cannot be used on this regard and both are not linked.
Even if you pay off your credit card with your Maya Wallet, it will not increase the amount for the 2% increase.
High Threshold for the savings interest %
On the credit card’s debut, November 2024, Maya will increase savings interest for 1% if you will spend Php 25,000 on the Maya/Landers Credit Card.
For those big spenders, maybe it will be worthwhile.
But for those who cannot spend that amount of money at once. I cannot see the merits of this one.
Such a high amount is not really wise for people who want to buy fresh food periodically at a short span of time.
This seems like a scheme to spend needless money on low quality goods and you are better off using a different credit card that has a better deal than this one.
